ChatGPT Deep Research
Deep Research is designed for multi-step questions that benefit from gathering, comparing and synthesizing information from multiple sources. It is more appropriate than a quick answer when the task needs a research plan, evidence review and a structured conclusion.
When to use Deep Research
Use it for broad comparisons, market or technology research, literature-style investigations, policy questions and other topics where several sources must be reconciled. For a short factual question, ordinary Search may be faster.
Write a strong research brief
Define the exact question, country or market, audience, date range, exclusions and preferred source types. State the desired output, such as a comparison table, timeline, evidence summary or recommendation. Ask the research process to distinguish facts, interpretations and uncertainty.
Review the result
Check important claims against the cited sources. Verify publication dates, inspect primary sources where possible, and look for conflicting evidence. Do not treat a polished synthesis as proof that every claim is correct.
Useful workflow
- Define the decision or question.
- Set scope and evidence requirements.
- Run the research.
- Review citations and conflicts.
- Turn verified findings into the final answer.
